TEX15. I love Koochee wallets as places to put special pieces
of jewellery and carry treasures when I travel. This one is quite
large - 5 by 6 1/4 inches when closed. The blue seed beads are deeper
in colour with a tinge of turquoise. I can never seem to reproduce
that colour on line. The stitching, as always is delicate and beautiful
including fine rows of silvered threads. $50.US. (sold)
TEX16. This Koochee wallet is 6 1/2 by 5 1/4 inches when closed.
It has rich red beads surrounding it and gold threads among the purple
and orange. This is a rather elegant pattern of stitching.
$50.US.
TEX17. This Koochee wallet measures 5 by 5 inches when closed.
This has patterns of stitches decorating the fine embroidery which gives
it a rather eclectic and interesting effect. The inside pockets snap
shut so it is quite secure for your jewellery or precious objects.
It makes me thing of exotic places, markets, and mystery... $60.US.
(sold)
TEX18. This lovely Koochee wallet is 4 by 4 1/2 inches when
closed. It has a cord to wind around it to keep it shut. The
colours of the fine stitching are vibrant and accented nicely by the rich
blue beads. The accent of silver threads is very attractive as well.
$45.US.
TEX19. Here is an unusual Koochee wallet with a cord of beads
to wind it closed. The wallet is 4 by 5 inches when closed.
The colours are rich magentas, orange, deep blues and greens accented with
silver thread and blue beads. The blue beads are deeper and richer
in colour than they appear on the image. $45.US.
(sold)
TEX20. This Koochee wallet is 4 1/4 inches by 6 inches when
closed. As always, it is beautifully stitched. Women work on
these at spare moments during the day, creators of beauty. This is
tied shut by a cord with a tassle at the end. This is alive with
colour. $50.US. (sold)
TEX21. This Koochee wallet measures 4 by 5 1/2 inches when
folded shut. It is held shut with two snaps and is quite thin when
shut - others are generally bulkier. When opened it has a flat panel
that is like a page in a book - embroidered, and just used as another decorative
element. There are multicolour beads sewn closely to the edges.
Very nice. $50.US. (sold)
TEX22. This Koochee wallet is 4 1/2 by 6 inches when folded.
It is sewn onto a hemp-like material of a warm creamy colour.
It doesn't show well in the image. The inside lining is a washed
magenta silk. The outside beads are deeper and blue-er than the image
shows. I like the straightforward look that this piece has.
$50.US.
(sold)
TEX23. These fully seeded bags have quite a weight to them.
They feel significant in their presence. This bag itself is 5 by
5 1/2 inches, then there are tassels in all directions and a 30 inch cord
to suspend it. $60.US. (sold)
TEX24. Here is another fully seeded bag 5 by 5 1/2 inches in
side. This has a 31 inch beaded cord to suspend it.
$60.US. (sold)
TEX25. Here is a beautifully stitched Koochee bag measuring
6 by 7 inches with tassels in all directions and a 23 inch cord for carrying.
It can be pulled shut. $60.US. (sold)
TEX26. This is the largest Koochee bag that I have for sale,
measuring 7 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches with seeded dangles in all directions as
well as a 23 inch long cord. The bag can be pulled shut by pulling
on the cords. $60.US. (sold)
TEX27. I decided to pick up some table pieces this time.
The dealer who I see from Afghanistan brought back some very attractive
ones on his last trip. This one is 9 by 9 1/2 inches, has beautiful
delicate stitching and tiny little mirrors in the four flowers. This
is a lovely piece to put your teapot on, or to lay some beautiful jewellery
on, or a spray of flowers. $75.US.
(sold)
TEX28. The table pieces from Afghanistan and the Koochee people
there are always charming and colourful. They are all very individual
too, made by women at home using their own imaginations. This piece
is 10 by 10 inches, rich with gold threads, and decorated with four beaded
circles each holding a mirror to chase any badness away.
$75.US.
TEX29. This is the largest table piece that I have. It
measures 12 inches in each direction. This sits very nicely and has
probably held a teapot and cups in its past life. I am always amazed
at the amount of labour which goes into each piece. $80.US.
(sold)
TEX30. A path of silver sound threads works its way between
the embroidery on this table piece. It measures 9 by 9 1/2 inches
and is vibrant with colour. It has a central beaded disc with a mirror
in the middle. The mirror reflects away all that is bad.
$75.US.
(sold)
TEX31. This table piece almost sparkles with the way that the
glittering silver threads are sewn into it. There are lots of mirrors
as well, to reflect any badness away. Meanwhile this 7 1/2 by 8 1/2
piece is a resting spot for teacups, little plates of nuts to nibble on,
or jewellery set out to be seen. Very charming as always.
$75.US.
(sold)
TEX08. Here is one single hanging with 3 sets of tassels hanging
from it. It is a sturdy creature with fascinating pieces hung from
the bottom both beaded and stitched. This measures 14 1/2 inches
in length, is quite unusual and very attractive. $85.US.
(sold)
TEX09. This pair of Turkoman tassels has some old Chinese beads
attached to it including one blue melon shaped one. Just great.
The hangings are tied together but easily unknotted. As they are
now, they measure 14 1/2 inches from top to bottom. Again, they are
used for decoration in the house. $80.US/pair.
TEX10. This pair of Koochee tassels is 21 inches long and all
beaded with no fabric involved. There is a button at the top of each
piece for fastening into place. These make great lively decorations
in ones house. $75.US/pair.
TEX11. These heavy weight Koochee hanging pieces measure 23
inches long and are full of glass bead tassels. They are used for
decoration in the house to liven life up a little. The pair is $95.US.
TEX12. This is a robust pair of decorative panels from the
Uzbek people of Afghanistan. Each panel is 21 inches long, is nicely
embroidered, nicley tasseled, and has interesting wound silver ovals and
threaded discs as decoration. This would be beautiful hung at the
sides of a doorway. $180.US/pair. (sold)
TEX13. These two decorative panels are Uzbek and used to decorate
the sides of doorways. They are quite dramatic and a good size measuring
27 inches from top to bottom. There is some Chinese style of knotting
between the tassels, dramatic embroidery, bits of beading and fascinating
winding of threads. These are gorgeous pieces. $200.US/pair.
TEX14. This is an old Uzbek mirror bag. It is embroidered
on the front and has a burgundy velvet back piece. They use velvet
as it doesn't wear as quickly as a flat cotton as the mirrors are taken
from the bags quite often. Mirrors don't always bring good luck so
they are kept hidden except for use. This bag is 13 1/2 inches tall
with handles extending above that. It is 12 1/3 inches wide.
It could be used to store other items or it could continue its tradition.
$120.US.
